The XCAM Ultra uses the O-KAM Pro app. The app gives it two ways to join your WiFi: Bluetooth pairing, which is quicker, and a hotspot method for when Bluetooth won't cooperate. Unlike the Nano, the Ultra is linked to an account, so it is easy to share with other people in the household.
Before you start
- Charge it with a 5V USB charger. A steady yellow light means charging, and it goes out when the battery is full.
- Insert a microSD card (up to 256GB) if you want local recording.
- Use 2.4GHz WiFi. 5GHz networks are not supported. If your router combines both bands under one name, pairing usually still works. If it fails, temporarily split the bands.
- Put the camera close to the router for setup, within about two metres. Move it to its final spot afterwards.
- Install O-KAM Pro from the App Store or Google Play, open it and register an account.
Start from a clean slate
Switch the camera on. If it has been set up before, or you are not sure, factory-reset it: with the camera on, press and hold the reset button for about five seconds until the blue and red lights flash alternately. Then wait for the blue light to blink slowly, which means it is ready to be configured.
Method 1: Bluetooth (recommended)
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and connect the phone to your home 2.4GHz WiFi.
- Open O-KAM Pro. After a moment a "found new device" card appears at the top of the home screen. Tap Connect.
Nothing appears? Tap + / Add to search again, or scan the QR code printed on the camera. - Confirm the WiFi network and enter its password exactly.
- Wait while the camera joins the network and binds to your account. This usually takes a minute or two. Keep the phone nearby and don't close the app.
- Give the camera a name that says where it is (Front door, Garage, Living room). This helps once you have more than one.
- Tap through Get started. You will land on the settings page, where you can turn notification push and motion detection on or off.
The app may offer a free trial of its cloud storage. That is optional. The Ultra records to its microSD card with no subscription, so you can decline and lose nothing.
Method 2: Hotspot (AP) mode
Use this if Bluetooth pairing keeps failing:
- Reset the camera as above.
- In O-KAM Pro, tap the + in the top-right corner and choose Hotspot configuration, then follow the prompt.
- Go to your phone's WiFi settings and join the camera's own network. Its name begins with @MC- (other prefixes are possible; the app lists them).
- Return to O-KAM Pro. It adds the camera automatically. Tap play to see the live view.
If you want remote viewing, move the camera onto your home WiFi afterwards (next section).
Changing WiFi later
Open the camera, tap Settings → Device settings → WiFi network, pick the new network and enter its password. The same page lets you rename the camera, adjust volume, hide the indicator light and restart the device.
Sharing with family
Open the camera's menu and choose Share. The app shows a QR code. The other person installs O-KAM Pro, signs in to their own account and scans the code. They get their own access without you handing over your password, and you can remove it later.

Getting the most from it
- Placement: the PIR sensor is best at spotting someone crossing its view rather than walking straight at it, and its infrared reaches about three metres. Aim it across an entrance or hallway from within that distance. See where to place a home security camera.
- Don't aim it through a window. Glass blocks the heat that PIR detects, and it reflects infrared back at the lens at night.
- Keep it away from heaters, air-con vents and direct sun. Moving warm air is the main source of PIR false alerts.
- Night vision is automatic. The Ultra switches to invisible 940nm infrared when the light falls, with no app toggle needed.
