Welcome
Thanks for choosing the XCAM Max
This guide takes you from unboxing to watching live on your phone, then covers motion alerts, recording, sharing and the settings you are most likely to need.
Before you start, you'll need
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android).
- A 2.4GHz WiFi network and its password. 5GHz, hidden and enterprise (work login) networks are not supported.
- Optional: a microSD card up to 128GB so the camera can record by itself. Cards are sold separately.
- An email address to create a free O-KAM Pro account.
Charge it first. Plug the camera into a 5V USB charger before first use. A full charge takes about 1 hour. The yellow light goes out when the battery is full.

Switch and reset

|---|---|
| Switch on / off | Slide the power switch. |
| Factory reset | With the camera switched on, press and hold the reset button (R) for about 5 seconds, until the blue and red lights flash alternately. The camera restarts ready to be set up again. |
What the lights mean
| Light | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Blue flashing slowly | Waiting to be connected to WiFi. |
| Blue flashing quickly | Connecting to WiFi. |
| Blue on | Connected. |
| Blue and red flashing in turn | Factory reset in progress. |
| Blue and red flashing together | Low battery. Charge the camera. |
| Yellow on | Charging. It goes out when the battery is full. |
Charging
- Use the USB-C cable supplied and a standard 5V / 1A USB charger. Do not use a charger that outputs more than 5V.
- The 1600mAh battery gives about 8 hours of continuous recording. A full charge takes about 1 hour.
- The camera keeps working while it charges, so you can leave it on USB power permanently.
- It is normal for the camera to feel warm while it is running.
Section 3
Install the app & create an account
Install O-KAM Pro
- Search for O-KAM Pro in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android), or scan the QR code on the leaflet in the box.
Create your account
- Open O-KAM Pro and tap Register now.
- Follow the prompts to register with your email, and agree to the user agreement and privacy policy.
- Log in. Allow notifications, so motion alerts can reach you.

Get ready to connect
- Switch the camera on and reset it to factory settings (Switch, lights & charging).
- Put the camera within 2 metres of your WiFi router for setup.
- Connect your phone to your 2.4GHz WiFi and have the password ready.
There are two ways to connect the camera: Bluetooth (Connect with Bluetooth (recommended)), the quickest, and hotspot (Connect with the camera's hotspot).
Section 4
Connect with Bluetooth (recommended)
- Turn on your phone's Bluetooth (and location, if your phone asks).
- Open O-KAM Pro. After a moment the camera appears at the top of the home screen as a new device. Tap Connect. If it doesn't appear, tap + Add to search again, or scan the QR code on the camera.
- Confirm your 2.4GHz WiFi network, enter the password and tap Next.
- Wait while the camera connects, which takes 1 to 2 minutes: Camera accesses network → Camera found → Camera adds to App.
- Give the camera a name (for example Living room) and tap Get started.
- Choose whether to turn on Notification push and Motion Detection (Motion alerts), then tap Get started.
Tap Connect on the new device
The app offers a free cloud-storage trial during setup. It is optional: tap past it if you only want to record to the microSD card.
Section 5
Connect with the camera's hotspot
- Switch the camera on and reset it to factory settings.
- In O-KAM Pro, tap ⊕ in the top right and choose Hotspot configuration.
- Tap To connect.
- In your phone's WiFi settings, join the camera's network. Its name starts with @MC- (it may also start with @OK-, @IPC-, @YX-, @LaiCam- or IPC-).
- Go back to O-KAM Pro. The camera is added automatically. Tap the play button to watch.
Join the @MC-… network
A camera added this way shows AP on its card and can only be watched while your phone is joined to the camera's network. To watch from anywhere, connect it to your home WiFi (Connect to or change WiFi).
Section 6
Connect to or change WiFi
Use this to move a hotspot-connected camera onto your home WiFi, or after you change your router or WiFi password.
- On the home screen, tap ⋮ on the camera's card, then Settings.
- Tap Device Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi network.
- Choose your 2.4GHz network, enter the password and tap Confirm. The camera reconnects, and the blue light stays on when it's done.
System settings. Your app version may differ slightly.
Other device settings

|---|---|
| Device name | Rename the camera. |
| Device volume | Microphone level. |
| Hide indicator light | Turn the camera's lights off. |
| Make it priority view camera | Show this camera first on the home screen. |
| Video management | Video settings for this camera. |
| Enhanced WiFi mode | Helps where the signal is weak. |
| Restart device | Reboot the camera. |
Section 7
Motion alerts
The XCAM Max detects changes in the picture. It does not tell people apart from pets, and moving curtains, shadows, sunlight or headlights can also set it off.
- Reposition first. Keep windows, TVs, plants and pet routes out of the frame.
- If there is a lot of normal movement where the camera is, you can switch motion detection off and use it as a live-view camera.
- Every alert uses battery. For an alert camera, keep it on USB power.
Turn alerts on or off
- During setup, the camera's settings page offers Notification push and Motion Detection switches.
- Later, open the camera's ⚙ Settings and use Notification Settings and Monitoring Function.
- Allow notifications for O-KAM Pro in your phone's settings, or the alerts won't appear.
- Tap the bell (Silence) on the camera's card to pause alerts for a while.
See what happened
Tap an alert to open the camera. Past recordings are under Playback on the camera's card and in Messages.
Section 8
Recording, storage & night vision
microSD card
- Supports cards up to 128GB. Cards are sold separately.
- Insert the card into the camera's card slot with the camera switched off.
- Choose how the camera records to the card in ⚙ Settings → TF Record Settings.
- Watch recordings with Playback on the camera's card.
- If the camera doesn't recognise the card, format it from TF Record Settings or try a different card.
Cloud storage (optional)
O-KAM Pro offers paid cloud storage, and the app may show a free trial and upgrade prompts. You don't need it: the camera records to the microSD card with no subscription.
Stop any recording before you switch the camera off, or the last video file may not be saved.
Night vision
Night vision switches on automatically when the room goes dark, and back to colour when the light returns.
Section 9
Mounting, sharing & listening
Mounting
Fix the camera to its bracket. The bracket can stand on a shelf, or be screwed to a wall with the supplied screw set. Loosen the knob to set the angle, then tighten it.
Share with family
- On the home screen, tap ⋮ on the camera's card, then Share. A QR code appears.
- Choose whether to Offer setting permissions.
- The other person installs O-KAM Pro, logs in and scans the code. Each code is valid for 30 minutes and can be used by one person.
Up to 4 people can watch the camera at the same time.
Listening
The camera has a built-in microphone, so you can hear the room in the live view. It has no speaker, so you can't talk through it.
Section 10
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Try this |
|---|---|
| App can't find the camera | Reset the camera (blue and red lights flash in turn), keep it within 2 metres of the router, and turn on Bluetooth and location. |
| Can't see the @MC-… network | Reset the camera and wait for the blue light to flash slowly, then refresh your phone's WiFi list. |
| Won't join home WiFi | Use a 2.4GHz network (not 5GHz, hidden or enterprise) and check the password. Try Enhanced WiFi mode where the signal is weak. |
| Changed router or WiFi password | Change it in Device Settings → Wi-Fi network (Connect to or change WiFi), or reset the camera and set it up again. |
| Only works near the camera | It is in hotspot (AP) mode. Connect it to your home WiFi (Connect to or change WiFi). |
| No motion alerts | Check Motion Detection and Notification push are on, Silence is off, and notifications are allowed for O-KAM Pro on your phone. |
| Too many alerts | Reposition the camera away from windows, TVs and pets (Motion alerts). |
| Blue and red flash together | Low battery. Charge the camera. |
| microSD card not recognised | Format it in TF Record Settings, or try another card of 128GB or less. |
| Asked to pay for cloud storage | Optional. Recording to the microSD card is free. |
| Camera feels warm | Normal during use. It does not affect performance. |

Care & safety
- Charge only with a 5V USB charger. Don't use damaged cables, and don't use a charger that outputs more than 5V.
- For indoor use. Keep the camera away from water, rain, high humidity and direct heat.
- Don't open the camera or try to replace the built-in battery.
- Keep small parts away from young children.
- Recycle the camera and its battery responsibly. Don't put them in household waste.
Using a camera responsibly
Monitoring your own home, property or business is legal in most countries. Recording people where they reasonably expect privacy is not, and audio recording carries extra restrictions in many places. Check the rules where you live before you place the camera, and tell guests, tenants or staff where cameras are in use.
