Thanks for choosing the XCAM Cube
This guide takes you from unboxing to watching live on your phone, explains the three buttons (including recording without the app), and covers the settings you are most likely to need.
Before you start, you'll need
- A microSD card up to 128GB if you want the camera to record. Cards are sold separately.
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android), if you want to watch live or change settings.
- A 2.4GHz WiFi network and its password, for viewing from anywhere.
Charge it first. Charge the camera fully before first use. A full charge takes about 5 hours.

Buttons, lights & charging
The three buttons

Press once to start recording to the microSD card, and again to stop (Record without the app). Press and hold for 3 seconds to restore factory settings. |

What the lights mean
| Light | Meaning |

| Blue on + green flashing slowly | Hotspot (AP) mode. Ready to connect to your phone directly. |
| Blue on + green on | Internet mode. Connected to your router and viewable from anywhere. |
| Blue on, green off | Can't find the network. Restore factory settings and set it up again. |
Charging
- Charge through the Micro-USB port with the cable supplied and a standard USB charger.
- A full charge takes about 5 hours and gives up to about 8 hours (480 minutes) of continuous recording.
- The camera keeps working while it charges, so you can leave it on USB power.
Section 3
Record without the app
The Cube can record on its own, with no phone and no app, as long as there is a microSD card inside.
- Insert a microSD card (up to 128GB) into the card slot.
- Switch the camera on with the ON/OFF button.
- Press the R / Video button once. The camera starts recording.
- Press R / Video again to stop recording.
The lights don't change while it records. Keep track of whether you have started or stopped, and check the recording in the app afterwards if you're unsure.
Take a photo
Press the Camera button once. The blue light flashes once to confirm.
Stop recording before you switch the camera off, so the last video file is saved.

Install the app & sign in
Install HIDVCAM
- Android: search for HIDVCAM in Google Play.
- iPhone: search for HIDVCAM in the App Store.
- Or scan the QR code on the leaflet in the box.
Register and sign in
- Open HIDVCAM.
- Register an account and sign in. You can use an email address, or sign in with WeChat, Facebook, Twitter or Line.
Register, then log in
Next, connect the camera to your phone through its hotspot (Connect through the camera's hotspot), then to your router for remote viewing (Bind to your router (remote viewing)).

Connect through the camera's hotspot
- Press ON/OFF to switch the camera on. Wait about 10 seconds, until the blue light is on and the green light flashes slowly.
- Open your phone's WiFi settings and join the camera's hotspot. Its name looks like IPC-XXXXX.
- Open HIDVCAM. In the device list, pull down to refresh. The camera appears.
- Tap the camera and set a device password. When it's saved, tap OK to start watching.
Join the IPC-… hotspot
In hotspot mode you can watch only while your phone is joined to the camera's hotspot, within WiFi range (about 15m). To watch from anywhere, bind the camera to your router (next page).
Keep the device password safe. You'll enter it when you watch remotely, and you can change it later in the settings (The camera's settings).

Bind to your router (remote viewing)
- In HIDVCAM's device list, tap Settings on the camera, then Network Settings.
- Find your home WiFi in the list. It must be a 2.4GHz network. Enter the router password and tap OK.
- Reconnect your phone to your normal WiFi or mobile data.
- Wait about 30 seconds while the camera joins the router. It changes from offline to online, and the blue and green lights stay on.
- Tap play and enter the device password to watch from anywhere.
Choose your router
If the lights show blue on, green off, the camera can't find the network. Restore factory settings (hold R / Video for 3 seconds) and set it up again.

The camera's settings
Open the camera's Settings from the device list.

| Password | Change the device password you set when you added the camera. |

| Alarm setting | Set up motion detection. |
| Video settings | Choose HD or SD video, and motion-detection recording or all-day recording. |
| Time setting | Sync the camera's clock with your phone. |
| Battery & infrared light | Let the camera switch itself off when the battery is low, and set the infrared light options, including a time setting. |
| Firmware version | See the current firmware and upgrade it online. |

Recording, storage & night vision
Ways to record

microSD card
- Supports cards up to 128GB. Cards are sold separately.
- 4K uses much more space than 1080P (roughly 4GB an hour against about 1GB), so choose the resolution to suit how long you need to record.
- If the camera doesn't recognise a card, try formatting it or use a different card.
- Watch and download recordings through the app.
Night vision
Infrared LEDs around the lens light the scene in the dark. The infrared light options are under Settings → Battery & infrared light.
No subscription
The camera records to the microSD card. There is no monthly fee.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Try this |

| Can't see the IPC-… hotspot | Switch the camera on and wait about 10 seconds for the green light to flash slowly. If not, restore factory settings (hold R / Video for 3 seconds). |
| Camera not in the app's list | Check your phone is still joined to the IPC-… hotspot, then pull down on the device list to refresh. |
| Blue on, green off | The camera can't find the network. Restore factory settings and set it up again. |
| Won't join the router | Use a 2.4GHz network, check the password, and move the camera closer to the router. |
| Only works near the camera | It's in hotspot mode. Bind it to your router (Bind to your router (remote viewing)). |
| Not sure if it's recording | The lights don't change when you press R / Video. Check the recording in the app. |
| Forgot the device password | Restore factory settings (hold R / Video for 3 seconds), then add the camera again. |
| Changed router or WiFi password | Update it in Network Settings, or restore factory settings and set it up again. |
| Battery runs down | Normal for continuous recording: up to about 8 hours (480 minutes) of continuous recording. Use USB power for longer sessions. |

Care & safety
- Charge only with a 5V USB charger. Don't use damaged cables, and don't use a charger that outputs more than 5V.
- For indoor use. Keep the camera away from water, rain, high humidity and direct heat.
- Don't open the camera or try to replace the built-in battery.
- Keep small parts away from young children.
- Recycle the camera and its battery responsibly. Don't put them in household waste.
Using a camera responsibly
Monitoring your own home, property or business is legal in most countries. Recording people where they reasonably expect privacy is not, and audio recording carries extra restrictions in many places. Check the rules where you live before you place the camera, and tell guests, tenants or staff where cameras are in use.
